ParticipantOur 2004 rig has obviously seen many years in the sun. The decals and even the Itasca wording has disappeared. This was a used rig and I used a razor blade to removed the curling edges of the decals. My challenge is that they continue to curl. I don’t know if I should keep using the razor blade and waxing the unit or try to find someone to remove all the old stuff. I don’t know if I should have new decals put on or have something painted on it. Does anyone have any recommendations or experience with this type of challenge?

KeymasterHi Kathy, this is a great question. There’s a cheap tool called an eraser wheel that is meant to removed baked on decals. There’s another tool that professionals use and takes less time that you can also purchase called the MBX but it costs about $500.
Once you’ve removed the decals you have a choice to either reapply new decals or paint some stripes on. It costs more money to paint them on. An average price to add new decals can cost about $1,000-$2,500 whereas painting them on can cost $5,000 to $10,000 depending on how many stripes and colors…
If you live in Arizona, I highly recommend Prestige Mobile Autobody (PMA). They are personal friends of mine specializing in RV and auto body repair and always do free estimates. You can contact them at 480-584-7933 or pma2u@yahoo.com .
Good luck with your decals! 😀
