ParticipantI was intrigued by the thought of installing a quick drain valve on my Generac generator after making a real mess while changing it’s oil and filter. I found one valve for a Kohler engine for $30 to $40 and figured there had to be a cheaper way. On line, most all the dump valves including the Fumoto valve were in the same price range. I happened to be be in Home Depot and found a valve used for air but totally workable to install on mine. The oil drain plur for the generator is a 3/8″ NPT plug and totally matches the Valve threads. Mine is a bottom drain plug and dumps on the muffler if you miss the catch bucket or knock it over like I did. What a mess. After that experience I have now installed the valve plus a few extra pipe pieces to plumb the dump valve piping off to the side of the muffler. Not that I change the generator oil frequently, but next time it will be mess-less. The valve part number is HDA70300AV plus just regular 3/8″ galvanized fittings to make extension. Altogether less dollars than the other oil change valves of that size that I was able to find and is readily available since there’s a HD on every 5 mile radius here in Phoenix. Have fun RVing. The ultimate getaway.
