ParticipantI know what you mean. Just hearing the words oil and diesel sounds very flammable, not to mention mixing them. When I first heard of it, I also got that really creepy feeling. I did not mean to come across so gruff, but once you use it and compare it to the stuff from the stores, you would understand.

ParticipantFirst, the name is Michael, like it says in my post and in my profile. Second, please do your research and know what your talking about before talking negative about something. Please google wood stain with used motor oil and diesel. Diesel ignites by compression and not spark, and have you ever dropped a cigarette in motor oil. It may smoke a little but smothers the cigarette out. Pretty much anything is flammable if you apply enough heat to it. This mixture has been used for many many years by farmers for their barns, wood floors, outside fencing, fence post, and etc. I myself have used it for several years without any issues such as being any type of fire hazard and after about a week, there is no smell. If anything, the fumes from all these stains sold in stores is a lot stronger than the motor oil/diesel mixture. Also, it is repurposing something.
